No Problem, TeamKCI Has You Covered

In 2007 Brocade® introduced its then new flagship director – the DCX.  The DCX was a technology leader with an industry leading speed of 8 Gbps. Seven years later, Brocade® introduced its next generation director, the 16 Gbps DCX 8510, and designated the DCX End-of-Life. Fast forward five years and the DCX will reach End-of-Support on November 14, 2019 just one year from today. After November 14, 2019. Brocade® support will no longer be available for the DCX.
If you’re still planning to use your DCX directors now is the time to call TeamKCI to support your DCX gear. We will maintain your DCX for as long as you choose to use it, at a price that is far less than Brocade® or Broadcom ever did. Don’t get caught without support. Call TeamKCI for a fast, accurate same day quote on your DCX gear and on all your Brocade® legacy equipment.
And while you are thinking about End-of-Support options for your DCX directors keep in mind that mainstay Brocade® 5100 and 5300 switches will reach End-of-Support even sooner. In just 75 days on January 31, 2019, Brocade® will no longer support the 5100. And on August 22, 2019, Brocade® support will end for the 5300.
PS: TeamKCI will not only maintain the Brocade® DCX, we also maintain all badged versions of the Brocade® DCX sold by EMC®, HP, HDS, NetApp®, and Hitachi

Brocade® Announcements Fuel Speculation

In the past thirty days Broadcom has made a couple of significant moves. First, it referenced an as of yet un-announced future Generation 7 (Gen 7) director that will be twice as fast as the current two-year-old 16 Gbps X6, Gen 6, director. No mention was made of the exact release date or compatibility with Gen 6, only the comment, “Gen 7, which will double the speeds yet again, is already on the horizon”.
Second, Broadcom has announced End-of-Life (EOL) for the Brocade® 300 SAN Switch. The 300 is an 8 Gbps Gen 4 switch which has remained an active product throughout the 8 years that Brocade® has sold the newer 16 Gbps Gen 5 product line.
Could the movement of the Brocade® 300 to EOL designation along with the whisper announcement of a coming 64 Gbps Gen 7 director be signaling that Broadcom is simplifying its product offerings and at the same time signaling that it will finally get around to officially End-of-Lifing it’s now 8-year-old Gen 5 product line? Stay tuned, only time will tell. But clearly Broadcom does not plan to stand still after its Brocade® acquisition.

Cisco® MDS 9513 Software Reaches End-of-Support on 10/31/2017

Start Saving 80% off SMARTnet® Now

According to Cisco® the Cisco® MDS 9513 will reach end of software support on October 31, 2017 after which software and firmware updates will cease, patches will no longer be available and bug fixes will end. New maintenance contracts from Cisco® for machines not under maintenance will no longer be accepted.

The Cisco® MDS 9513 was introduced in 2006, its technology is 11 years old; it. It has been superseded by the Cisco® 9710 SAN director. Cisco® MDS 9513 directors are limited to 8 Gbps transfer speed. The 9513 will not handle 16 Gbps transfer speed nor will it handle the recently released 32 Gbps transfer speed blade. All of the blades and supervisor cards sold for use in the 9513 are EOL; many are End-of-Support.

Many customers look at firmware support as the #1 reason to stay with pricey manufacturer’s maintenance. As Cisco® begins the process of terminating MDS 9513 support its time to ratchet up savings by moving support to TeamKCI – at 80% less than Cisco SMARTnet®.
