» COMPANY HISTORY
Founded in 1982, KCI, Inc. has established itself as a leading supplier of hardware, maintenance and leasing solutions for large scale data centers - supplying hardware ranging from Enterprise Servers to SAN Directors and almost all the elements in between. KCI, Inc. provides a solid, comprehensive integrated approach to tackling the complex hardware requirements of today’s modern IT environments.

The company's activities fall into three main areas together spanning the wide array of products and services found in large-scale IT facilities.  Our Enterprise Group handles ESCON converters, coupling links, wavelength division multiplexers (DWDM), channel extenders, and sysplex timers.  Our SAN Group offers comprehensive Storage Area Network solutions including storage platforms, storage directors, and switches.  Finally, our Maintenance Group is the leading independent provider of support for McData and McData "legacy" products (CNT, InRange, Telenex, and General Signal) in the world.

KCI, Inc. is headquartered in Mahwah, NJ just a few miles northwest of New York City with satellite offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Kansas City, Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, London and Singapore. Our European affiliate, KCI, Ltd. operates in twenty-three EC and former Eastern Bloc countries, and KCI World Trade based in Singapore does business in Asia, Japan, Australia and other Pacific Rim markets.

KCI, INC. has been maintaining OEM hardware for almost twenty years.  Early on, as switching specialists, we developed unique expertise in Data Switch products, which we later expanded to include General Signal, Telenex and CNT platforms.  Today, KCI maintains equipment at some of the largest IT centers in the world and delivers high quality maintenance at a fraction of the manufacturer's price.

In 1987 the Company opened its own reconditioning center. Today, the center spans over 15,000 square feet and is capable of storing up to 1,000 machines. This year alone, we estimate over 1,200 machines will be reconfigured, refurbished and recertified in our state of the art facility.

KCI, Inc. has enjoyed many highlights over its 20 year plus history. In 1984 the Company began trading mainframe channel switches and established a solid reputation as a leader in switching technology. In 1992, KCI, Inc. traded the first used IBM 9032 ESCON director in the world. Since that time we have sold over 2000 directors and switches to the largest IT installations in industry and government. Over the years the Company has expanded its expertise beyond the highly critical connectivity arena, which is at the heart of the mainframe complex, into the areas of processors, storage, tape and printers. When SANs were introduced a short time ago the Company was able to leverage its many years of connectivity experience and enter the new SAN marketplace as a key player early on.

KCI, Inc. looks to the future with great optimism. As specialists in channel architecture and large scale systems, we are witnessing the rejuvenation and growth of the mainframe market, as well as the explosive growth of Storage Area Networks and Fibre Channel technology. Our challenge and our commitment are to continue to evolve with the ever changing technologies to meet the complex, mission critical needs of our customers.
