and 10 Gbit/sec Fibre Channel performance, high
availability, multi-protocol connectivity, and broad

active 4 or 8 Gbit/sec full-duplex ports in a single
domain. In addition, it supports blades for Fibre
Channel Routing, FCIP, iSCSI, and fabric-based

configurations, the SilkWorm 12000 is capable of
performing as a core switch or a standalone or edge
switch in you Storage Area Network (SAN). These fabric
switches can support open systems Fibre Channel and
FICON protocol traffic at both 1Gbps and 2Gbps speeds
for heterogeneous device connectivity. Availability is
enhanced with an architecture that features no single
point of failure with full hardware redundancy, and
meets the enterprise-class “five nines” availability
requirement. This platform provides the core backbone
